What I've Learned
Throughout the time of my internship, both in sales and marketing and hotel operations, I was exposed to a wide variety of challenges and I learned how to respond in an appropriate way. Every challenge I was exposed to differed from the previous challenge, however I was able to take something positive out of all the learning experiences. I have spent a majority of my life in customer service as a waitress but, I was never exposed to hospitality in the hotel industry. By doing my internship in a hotel I now am able to understand a wide variety of topics which come together to mold the hospitality industry. Through the challenges I faced I was able to learn how to react in an appropriate manner. I have learned how to turn a negative situation into a positive situation, and have become increasingly confident in myself doing so. The most important thing I have taken out of my time as an intern, is I now have an understanding of what aspect of the industry I want to enter upon my graduation, which is the sales and marketing side. Though half of my internship was unpaid, I wouldn't trade the knowledge and experience I gained for any money. This internship has helped me fully understand what it takes to work in the sales and marketing department for a hotel, and I could not be more excited to start my career in this field in May of 2019.
